Saalex recognized for excellence by SBA

Saalex Solutions, Inc. was selected as one of nine regional businesses to receive a coveted Award for Excellence from the United States Small Business Administration (SBA). Saalex Chairman and CEO Travis Mack accepted the prestigious annual award as the “Veteran-owned Business of the Year” for the region comprising Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties. The awards were distributed at the third annual “Spirit of Small Business” 2005 Awards Luncheon, held on Thursday August 10 at Fess Parker’s DoubleTree Resort in Santa Barbara. The keynote speaker was Hector Barreto, Administrator of the SBA. “We’re thrilled. We couldn’t be more pleased,” said Mack. “To be recognized by the SBA is a great achievement that signifies credibility. It means you’re a real small business that adds value to the products and services you provide. The SBA has watched us and helped us grow. We’re an example of what can be achieved by working within their programs. This is fantastic.” The award is given “in recognition of outstanding contribution to the nation in satisfying the government’s procurement needs,” according to the official notice sent to Saalex and signed by Robert S. Paccione, Area VI director for the SBA’s Office of Government Accounting. “Only a handful of small businesses nationwide were selected to receive this prestigious award,” the notice continued. “Your firm truly is one of the best of the best.” Saalex was nominated for the award by its primary-contractor partner Northrop Grumman. “I think we’re unique,” said Mack in describing what he thinks led to the recognition for his seven-year-old business. “We operate in the highly technical world of space and combat weapons systems. It’s an easy story to tell – a small company with the technical abilities we have.” Saalex Solutions, Inc. is a rapidly growing systems engineering and technical-assistance company focusing on systems engineering, test and evaluation, and modeling and simulation for space/combat weapons systems.
